How do BCAAs work?
BCAAs are one of the most widely used amino acid-based supplements among athletes. Leucine, valine and isoleucine are the three essential amino acids included in BCAAs, which are responsible for the functioning of your muscles. These amino acids have a characteristic structure (branched aliphatic side chain). Their metabolism takes place mainly in muscle tissue, and the ratio of the individual amino acids in your muscles, also occurs in a 2:1:1 ratio.
In their natural state, they can be found in meals with a high-protein content, and dairy proteins and beef are two examples of excellent dietary sources. Branched-chain amino acids can be expected to have both anabolic and anti-catabolic effects. Not only do they regulate the function of the neurological system (reducing fatigue), but they also influence the action of hormones and kinases involved in protein metabolism. They offer carbon skeletons during periods of energy deficiency.
MuscleTech Amino Build composition:
1 serving, 15 grams:
Magnesium (as magnesium oxide) - 50 mg - is an element that is largely stored in bones, as well as in soft tissues and to a much lesser extent in extracellular fluids. It is one of the most significant intracellular cations in the body and is considered one of the most essential elements in the body. Among other things, it is responsible for the correct transmission of nerve impulses.
Zinc (as zinc gluconate) - 15 mg - is an element that can be found in relatively high concentrations in bone and muscle tissue. The bioavailability of this element can be improved by a number of factors, including the addition of citric acid and certain amino acids, so its addition in a supplement will effectively enhance its absorption. Zinc is a component of approximately 200 enzymes in the human body, and is involved in virtually all metabolic and energetic processes occurring in the body. These processes include, but are not limited to, hormone production, activation of immune defence mechanisms and protein synthesis.
Sodium - 200 mg - is mostly found in the ionic state, acting in particular as the main cation of extracellular fluid. Sodium is an essential component of many biological processes. It plays a role in the transmission of nerve impulses, the regulation of blood pressure, and the maintenance of water-electrolyte and acid-base balance in the body.
Potassium - 40 mg - is an element that acts as an antagonist to sodium, which serves as the main cation found inside cells. This element influences the adequate hydration level of cells (regulates their volume and osmotic pressure), is also important in maintaining the correct acid-base balance, lowers blood pressure, ensures the correct nutrition of brain cells, increases the permeability of cell membranes (acts as a calcium antagonist) and regulates the cardiovascular and muscular systems.
2:1:1 BCAA Matrix
L-leucine - 4 g - is one of the three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) the body needs to function properly. Protein synthesis is controlled by the activity of a protein called mTOR. L-leucine is the most effective activator of the mTOR protein. Proteosynthesis, also known as protein synthesis, is the process by which proteins are made that contribute to the formation and maintenance of muscle mass. If you are not getting enough L-leucine, your body will not be able to properly utilise the protein you consume and you will be unable to either create or maintain muscle mass.
L-isoleucine - 1.5 g - Isoleucine is both a BCAA branched-chain amino acid and belongs to the EAA essential amino acids. For this reason, it is not synthesised in the human body and must instead be obtained from dietary supplements, for example. The usefulness of isoleucine in sport is mainly due to its ability to preserve muscle tissue from breakdown, increase protein and haemoglobin synthesis, support blood glucose control and play a key role in the recovery process after intensive exercise.
L-Valine - 1.5 g - belongs to the branched-chain amino acids. Valine is responsible for energy processes, but also supports anabolism by contributing to the formation of new proteins. Valine is a very good peri-workout supplement, as it is used during training for possible energy processes, thus protecting muscle proteins from catabolism.
Performance and Strength Matrix
Betaine anhydrous - 2.5 g - also known as N,N,N-Trimethylglycine or TMG, is a methyl derivative of the amino acid glycine. It plays a role in the mechanism that converts homocysteine to methionine by acting as a methyl group donor. In sport, betaine is mainly used as an ingredient in dietary supplements designed to support muscular endurance.
Taurine - 1 g - belongs to the non-protein amino acids, which has a strong effect on metabolic processes. The action of taurine allows us to obtain more energy from the food we eat, giving us a feeling of increased strength. Taurine is also an anabolic. Its action contributes to the growth of muscle mass, which is readily used in products such as EAA amino acid blends.
Electrolyte Blend - a blend of electrolytes designed to provide effective hydration as well as improve nervous system function. The composition includes:
Sodium citrate - 595 mg
Coconut water (as Cocos nucifera) - 100 mg
Watermelon juice (as Citrullus lanatus) (fruit) - 100 mg
Sodium chloride - 80 mg
Dipotassium phosphate - 45 mg
Amino Build dosage:
1 serving, 15 grams during training. Can be dissolved in water and sipped during physical activity.
