Haya Organic Spirulina Powder - superfoods

Spirulina is a microscopic algae from the cyanobacterial family that has superfood properties. Like plants, they can produce energy from sunlight through a process called photosynthesis. The standard dose of spirulina is 1-3 grams, but doses up to 10 grams per day have been used effectively. It is extremely rich in nutrients and its effects have been appreciated even by cosmonauts. Due to its nutritional ingredients, it is considered the most nutritious food in the world.

A single tablespoon (7 grams) of dried spirulina powder contains:

  • Protein: 4 grams.
  • Vitamin B1 (thiamine): 11% RDA.
  • Vitamin B2 (riboflavin): 15% RDA.
  • Vitamin B3 (niacin): 4% RDA.
  • Copper: 21% RDA
  • Iron: 11% RDA.

Additionally, it contains decent amounts of magnesium, potassium, and manganese, and small amounts of almost every other nutrient we need. A tablespoon of spirulina contains a small amount of fat (about 1 gram), including omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in a ratio of about 1.5: 1. The quality of protein in spirulina is considered excellent, comparable to chicken eggs.

It contains all the essential amino acids that our body needs.

Spirulina has a beneficial effect on improving muscle strength and endurance:

Studies have shown that spirulina increases muscle endurance, significantly extending training time and reducing the feeling of fatigue.

Spirulina has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties:

Oxidative damage can destroy our DNA and cells. Such damage can lead to chronic inflammation, which contributes to cancer and other lifestyle diseases. Spirulina is a fantastic source of antioxidants that can protect against harmful oxidative damage. The main active ingredient is phycocyanin. This antioxidant substance gives spirulina its unique blue-green color. Phycocyanin can fight free radicals and inhibit the production of inflammatory signaling molecules, providing incredible antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Spirulina can lower LDL and triglyceride levels:

Cardiovascular diseases, including the heart, are currently the biggest problem in the world. Many measurable factors, called risk factors, are known to be associated with the risk of heart disease. As it turns out, spirulina has a beneficial effect on many of them. Effectively lowers the level of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, and at the same time increases the level of HDL cholesterol, the so-called good cholesterol.

Spirulina has anticancer properties, particularly against oral cancer:

Research suggests that spirulina may have anti-cancer properties. Spirulina has been particularly well studied for oral cancer. One study looked at the effects of spirulina on 87 people with precancerous lesions called OSMF in the mouth. After taking 1 gram per day for 1 year, 45% of the spirulina group had complete regression of their oral lesions, compared to only 7% of the control group. When they stopped taking spirulina, almost half of the people reacting to the alga saw these changes increase again the following year.

Studies show it can lower blood pressure:

High blood pressure is the silent cause of many deadly diseases. They include heart attacks, strokes and chronic kidney disease. A dose of 4.5 g per day effectively lowers blood pressure in people with high blood pressure. This is thought to be due to increased production of nitric oxide, a signaling molecule that helps blood vessels relax and dilate.

Spirulina improves symptoms of allergic rhinitis:

Allergic rhinitis is characterized by inflammation in the nasal passages. It is caused by environmental allergens such as pollen or animal dander. Spirulina is a popular alternative treatment for the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, and there is evidence that it is an effective remedy for people struggling with this problem. In one study of 127 people with allergic rhinitis, 2 grams daily significantly reduced symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion, and itching.

Spirulina may be effective against the occurrence of anemia:

The most common symptom of anemia is characterized by a decrease in the concentration of hemoglobin or red blood cells in the blood. Anemia is quite common in elderly people, which leads to long-term feelings of weakness and fatigue. In a study involving a group of 40 elderly people with anemia, spirulina supplementation increased the hemoglobin content in red blood cells.

Spirulina may help control blood sugar levels:

Studies have shown that spirulina can significantly lower blood sugar levels. In some cases, it achieves better results than popular diabetes medications. In a study involving a group of 25 patients with type 2 diabetes, 2 grams of spirulina led to an impressive reductiontion of blood sugar levels. HbA1c, a marker of long-term blood sugar, decreased from 9% to 8%, which is significant. Studies estimate that a 1% reduction in this marker can reduce the risk of diabetes-related death by 21%.
